Integrated Approaches to Healthy Living
As part of its effort to communicate and educate on ways to promote the integration of the behavioral health system both in terms of mental health/substance abuse and behavioral health/primary care, the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) annually conducts the Texas Behavioral Health Institute. Sessions promote individual, program, and system-level approaches that foster health, resilience and recovery; increase permanent housing, employment, education, and other necessary supports; and reduce barriers to social inclusion.
Speakers will address recovery and recovery supports; ways to build organizational partnerships; culturally-based services or competencies; and innovations that enhance family and community support. Topics also cover prevention and treatment solutions and relate to youth, family, judicial (legal, court, incarceration) and all populations impacted by mental health and substance abuse disorders.
